THOMAS INDIAN SCHOOL REUNION
a film by Terry Jones - 18 minutes

EXCLUSIVE: The premiere of the extended and re-edited version of “Thomas Indian School Reunion - 2004.” In 2004, the filmmaker filmed the reunion of former students at the Thomas Indian School in western New York. Personal testimonials include community members Rhoda Leaffe, Alice Gonzalez and Joanne Kabance. This version of the film includes additional testimonials and footage not included inthe original release.

Summary: Thomas Indian School Reunion (2004). From 1855 to 1956, the Thomas Indian School (formerly known as Thomas Asylum for Orphan and Destitute Indian Children) operated on the Seneca territory in New York State. Each year, former students gather and share their experience about the boarding school. These former students share their unique perspective of life as they fought to retain their native identity.

Alienation and lack of understanding come to light, when James has to announce news about a new job."

What happens when two Indian filmmakers, one from southern India and the other from an Indian reservation in western New York State, visits each other’s homelands? What are the similarities or differences between these ancient cultures? How does the modern world affect how they see themselves, each other and the outside world?

GATHERED PLACES is a documentary film that shows the worlds of India and Native America through the “Indian” lenses of filmmakers Terry Jones and Govind Deecee.
